Shopping For Successful Weight-loss: Five Top Tips

Believe it or not, the way you shop can go a long way to determining whether your weight-loss story has a sad or happy ending.
How frustrating would it be, having adhered to your plan, enjoyed successive losses only to succumb to temptation that could so easily have been avoided?
One of the golden rules to successful weight-loss is to work out where the traps lie and navigate your way round them. Few however treat the weekly shopping trip as a potential pitfall.
So here are the five top tips to ensure that your shopping habits promote, rather than destroy your efforts.
Make a list and stick to it, plan your meals for the week and ensure that you purchase all (and only) the ingredients you need. Ensure that your menu is varied and that you have plenty of healthy snack options so you dont get tempted to raid the biscuit barrel or goody cupboard. In addition to food choices, give some thought to what youre going to drink as this too can prove to be a stumbling block.
The time you shop is crucial never ever go to the supermarket when you are hungry – this is a sure fire way end up with a trolley full of calories laden goodies or at least a fatty snack. The best time to go is straight after youve eaten, preferable breakfast as this is when you are at your most resilient so youre more likely to stick to your plan and make diet friendly choices.
Make things easier on yourself by learning the geography of your store, know which aisles are home to the barred foods and steer clear of them. If you have to venture down an aisle of temptation make sure that you remain focused on why you want to lose weight, this will make it easier for you keep control of your iron will!
Get into the habit of reading true labels, pay attention to fat and sugar content and take little heed of the better for you and lower fat type labels. Better for you doesnt necessarily mean that the product is good for you it is more likely to mean not as bad for you as the standard version, similarly lower fat means just that lower, not low.
Is your shopping trip a family outing? If so you need to go it alone. Children and partners end up loading the trolley with an array of nutritionally deficient rubbish. Not only will this trick benefit your waistline and theirs but it will also see your shopping bill diminish significantly.
Give your next shopping trip the thought it deserves and youll be handsomely rewarded for your efforts.
